KATHMANDU — The streets of Durbarmarg came alive on Saturday as thousands of young people gathered for the 19th edition of the Durbar Marg Street Festival, themed “Xtreme Saturday.”

Organized by the Mavericks Group and Arbitrary Events, in coordination with the Durbar Marg Development Board, the free-entry festival transformed Kathmandu’s nightlife hub into a massive celebration of music, sports, food, and youth culture.
Sponsored by Xtreme Energy Drink, the festival featured a vibrant mix of attractions, including food stalls, 3-on-3 basketball tournaments, e-sports competitions, cosplay walks, and colorful cultural processions. Celebrities and public figures also joined the festivities, interacting with visitors and promoting upcoming film projects.
Despite continuous evening rain, the energy of Kathmandu’s youth remained undiminished as crowds stayed late into the night, enjoying live performances and DJ sets across multiple stages.

Performers Take Over the Stage
The festival showcased a diverse lineup of established and emerging Nepali artists representing rock, hip-hop, fusion, and electronic music genres. Performers included:

John and The Locals
The Axe Band
ST Mann

Gun Elvis
Live DJs performing electronic and dance music throughout the evening
The performances turned Durbar Marg into an open-air concert arena, with festivalgoers dancing in the rain and celebrating late into the night.

The annual street festival has increasingly become one of Kathmandu’s biggest youth-centered urban events, blending music, fashion, sports, and entertainment while highlighting the capital’s evolving nightlife and street culture.
